Story Box – Trusting Yourself

3 stories for children aged 7+ This age is the youngest we’d recommend for these stories; however, older children are likely to enjoy them too!
Total running time: 1 hour and 17 minutes

How do we teach our children to trust themselves?

That’s a tough call, because as parents we are often needing to step in and say things like “don’t touch that, it’s hot!” Sometimes we need to protect our children from their own bad choices. But if they are to eventually find their own way in life, it’s vital that they learn that there are times when they need to follow a call inside that the world might encourage them to ignore.

And that is the call of the heart, which in some situations is the only compass we possess. Trusting yourself in that way is how we navigate our most difficult challenges. We need role models to learn that kind of trust.

The three stories in this Story Box provide three such role models. Overcoming their greatest fears, following their heart’s longing to the end of the world, not giving up until they have an answer to their burning questions. I hope these stories will lie like seeds in your child’s psyche, and quietly bloom at a moment, sometime later in their lives, when the thing they most need is to trust themselves.
